8-Week Sessions
Most ESCC academic programs and classes are offered in 8-week sessions. There are five 8-week sessions in the academic year, one in the summer, two in the fall, and two in the spring. The academic calendar on the college’s website identifies the important dates for each session each year.
ESCC migrated to 8-week session in the summer of 2020 based on research that shows students are more likely to perform well in class, remain enrolled in college, and complete their programs in shorter academic sessions. The 8-week format also allows students multiple entry points to programs and courses each year, offers greater flexibility to students in scheduling and completing their programs, allows students to complete programs more quickly, and allows students to focus on just a few classes at a time.
