Purpose
The Career Studies Certificate in Early Childhood Education Support Specialist (Plan Code 221-636-08) prepares individuals for work as teaching assistants or substitute teachers in school settings. It prepares them for work in guidance, behavior, development, and serving children with special needs.
The program includes a 40 hour supervised internship in an approved educational facility
Students enrolled in the Early Childhood Education Support Specialist Career Studies Certificate program may apply all credits earned to the college’s AAS degree in Early Childhood Education.
Program Learning Outcomes
Students will be able to:
- Create an appropriate integrated curriculum.
- Analyze the physical, social, and emotional needs of young children in the early childhood development stages and the effects of not meeting those needs.
- Demonstrate the ability to maintain appropriate classroom management in an early childhood setting.
