Purpose
This Career Studies Certificate (Plan Code 221-903-10) is designed to prepare students for employment as competent Technician’s Helper in the Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration (HVAC&R) industry. The courses in this program create the first step in the pathway to an Associate of Applied Science degree and may be applied to some upper-level studies in Career and Technical Programs. Students will have the opportunity to earn a nationally recognized credential through the EPA certification examination. Classes count toward the Journeyman and Master state license in HVAC.
Program Learning Outcomes
Students will be able to:
- Read and interpret electrical diagrams, wire control systems from electrical diagrams, and repair faults in electrical control systems.
- Properly size and install HVAC systems using current and appropriate codes and industry practices.
- Diagnose, repair faults, and perform maintenance on HVAC systems.
