Welding, Career Studies Certificate


Purpose

The Welding Career Studies Certificate (Plan Code 221-995-01) prepare students to work as an entry-level welder in industry, providing an introduction to the various types of equipment and materials used in welding. The welding CSC is the first level of a three-level pathway to the Welding Certificate and the Associate of Applied Science degree in Technical Studies. This provides students multiple access and completion opportunities so they can more quickly enter the workforce and advance their knowledge and skills in the field of welding. ESCC’s welding programs prepare students for certification by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and the American Welding Society (AWS).

Program Learning Outcomes

Students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate proficiency in the use of welding tools.
  • Safely perform welding techniques using fillers, wires, fluxes, and gases.
  • Read and interpret blueprints in the welding industry.
